Brian Moggre has a horse named Vivre le Reve … which translates into ‘living the dream’.

How apt. At a tender 17 years of age, Moggre is indeed doing just that.

In his first trip to Spruce Meadows, the teen has already made a name for himself, winning a pair of 1.45-metre events and coming second in a 1.55 last week. On Thursday, on the second day of the North American tournament, Moggre placed fourth in yet another 1.55 class, the Ashcor Cup, proving he can hang with the old guys.

“The venue, first of all, is spectacular,” said Moggre, who hails from Flower Mound, Texas, just outside Dallas. “I came with three horses, Flutterby (12 years old), Los Angeles (7) and Vivre le Reve (10). Yeah, I was just awestruck by the place when I first saw it. I’ve always wanted to come here and now that I’ve actually come and the horses have enjoyed it as much as they have, it’s really been great for me.”
